British boutique sports car maker Morgan is turning their quirky-but-beloved three-wheeler into an electric vehicle called the EV3, the company announced March 1 in Geneva.
The hand-crafted Morgan EV3 will offer performance numbers similar to the gas-powered version—roughly zero-to-100 km/h in nine seconds, with a top speed of 145 km/h (90 mph). Pricing will be similar, too, Morgan says.
With a curb weight of fewer than 500 kg – the car’s traditional ash frame, combined with new composite carbon, help keep it down – the range of the EV3’s 20-kWh lithium batteries should be roughly 240 km (150 miles).
The Ev3 should hit dealers in Europe in late 2016 with a price tag of roughly £30,000 (about $56,000 Canadian). Unfortunately, we won’t be getting the Morgan EV3 here in North America any time soon.
